Spring weddings in November and October are increasing in popularity. Many couples are choosing to get married at this time of the year to avoid the very busy summer wedding season and make the most of the daylight hours!
Sometimes I feel choosing a date based on season isn't 100% the way to go. At the end of the day - you can't control weather - and we Sydney-siders do have wet Summers, and lovely warm and sunny Winters too!
So - how about thinking about these other options?
Do you have a dream venue you have had your eye on for years (even before you were engaged!)? Well, why not just check their availability and set your wedding date on the best date they can provide you? Most venues are a little cheaper if you book during the quieter months (Autumn/Winter) - so you could have your dream venue at a more affordable cost too!
Other couples I've dealt with have also chosen their wedding date around their ultimate photographer - they feel the photographs are what you look back on when you're an old married couple, so this is important (makes sense to me)!
Before you book your venue in, get on that phone and find out your ultimate photographer's availability. Many popular wedding photographers are booked out years in advance, especially during wedding season. How heart broken would you be if you'd booked and paid your deposit for the venue, and found out your photographer was unavailable!
A unique date
Personally - my husband and I chose our wedding date based around season (we wanted spring in the Hunter Valley, when the flowers are out) and also the actual date! I thought 10/11/12 was quite catchy and easy for guests to remember, as well as my husband to remember every anniversary!!
So - take your time and think about what is important to you both as a couple. Even think outside the box - it might just seal your wedding date deal and get your wedding plans kicked off to a great start!
